A project to simulate the archaeological site of Abydos in virtual reality, in cooperation with the British Egypt Exploration Society; it was shown in London and honoured by the University of Pennsylvania.
The Abydos project
- I worked with Egyptian researcher Dr. Amany Abdel-Hamid and the Egypt Exploration Society.
- We produced a complete digital simulation of the Abydos site — the Temple of Seti I and the Osireion — running on VR headsets and on computers.
- 360° photo tours, and a simulation of the temple’s exploration phase.
Exhibition and recognition
- The simulation models were shown at a museum in London.
- Dr. Amany Abdel-Hamid received the Egypt Exploration Society’s Centenary Award medal and a research grant from the University of Pennsylvania.
- The MetaLife project was honoured by the University of Pennsylvania.
